Bonjour! From the South of France
Bonjour!
Moby, writing to you from the south of France. They've rolled the grey carpet out for us and we're leaving tyre marks all over the thing. Something about being in a vehicle cruising on tarmac, the white lines, pylons and rolling fields that really makes you feel like you're on your way to somewhere. Currently touring with the Winter McQuinn band, having done Paris and Amsterdam supporting Stella Donnelly, a few shows in France, the UK and now more France. Next week we will be waved into Old Blighty by the smiling white cliffs of Dover to prepare for our Midtown Downtime UK run.
It's such a luxury in this current world to be able to travel with your friends and enjoy creating together and sometimes it's easy to forget to drink it in. I'm making sure to try and take moments to just sit and sip, take a few breaths and realise how lucky I am. But mostly forgetting and then chugging a litre before bed and hope I'll wake up feeling grateful.
The final single before the album is out! A sweet little ditty we wrote together sat underneath the loquat tree in Winnie's garden. It's about dry summer days and feeling a strange but pleasant push and pull of seasons as I shifted from living in the northern hemisphere to the southern. There's a few moments on the record that are just about me struggling being a pale English lad melting at the mercy of Mother Nature in a country being pushed towards climate catastrophe much like many others around the wilting planet. A strange time to be finding your way in the world but an important time to find the joys that do still flow in abundance and spread hope on your journey. Ride on, ride on baby!
Merci beaucoup, au revoir!
